Writing with Mrs. Milde
Students will be writing in all subjects to learn and to express themselves, but the craft of writing and strategies for how to ‘think clearly on paper’ will be the focus of the instruction time with Mrs. Milde. The Common Core goals for fifth grade writing overall are: •Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information. •Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly. •Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. Social Studies with Mrs. Milde In Fifth grade we cover the United States' history including: the Colonial period; the American Revolution; organization of the Government; the African experience through the Civil War, Jim Crow Era, and 1960's Civil Rights; with overviews of the Native Americans' experience; and Women's Voting Rights. |
